Retrosound
ROBB
A recorded source. A world to play.
The original instrument
The ASR-10 combines sampling, keyboard performance, effects and sequences. Its banks show how recorded sources and programming interact. Cited banks are not announced as bundled or authorised for redistribution.
Why ROBB?
ROBB honours Rob Papen and his AS-11 and AS-12 sound banks for the ASR-10. The four-letter spelling keeps the pronunciation of Rob. It does not credit him with designing the ASR-10 chip.
Banks and musical behaviour
Native banks bring together recorded sounds and playing settings. Explore the original-machine catalogue while we develop the instrument. Supported software formats and included libraries will be listed at release.
Philippe’s choice
Retrosound begins with machines Philippe enjoys playing: a presence that makes him want to hold a note, explore another register and turn a bank into a new idea.
The next chapter
ROBB is in development, inspired by the Ensoniq ASR-10. Follow its progress and release news. The historical features above describe the original machine; the software’s final features and release date will be announced here.
